Jive Aces Return to their Roots - and Sellout!
Friday the 19th January marked the Jive Aces long awaited appearance at the Queens Theatre in Hornchurch. Having first started performing in nearby Romford many years ago they built up a lot of fans and friends in the Essex/East London area even proudly representing them on the last run of "Opportunity Knocks" on BBC1 with Les Dawson.
Even though this was the band's first ever actual appearance this venue, the show was sold out over a month before the date and there was even a waiting list for tickets. Lead Singer Ian Clarkson said "It's great to see such a great response from our home county. We played at the Hornchurch jazz club last year and it was so full that people were queueing down the street waiting to get in so we had to find a bigger venue and we've had the same happen there too!"
The Mayor of Havering was in attendance and had invited several other Mayors from towns around Essex and London. They too had a great time and the atmosphere was wonderful.
The audience were pleasantly surprised when Ian asked Grazia, who was taking photos from the stage, to come to the footlights and take one of people as they watched the show.
