Alex spent his time in drama class at school learning about theatrical lighting and in music class learning the trombone.

He remembers the day when John Travolta visited his school and gave a talk to the school assembly. Then, years later, when Alex was in Los Angeles performing with the Jive Aces, he met John Travolta again, although Alex had grown a bit since the school visit!!

Alex is quite a showman and at concerts will jump on top of anyone’s table to blow a solo! He often challenges trumpeter Ian Clarkson to a duel of horns and then the sparks really fly!
